Imagine my surprise when I arrived home yesterday to find a package from Neiman Marcus.  Inside was a beautiful black tote filled with amazing beauty samples.  Inside was a note from my gal pal and Public Relations Manager April Riccioi inviting me to NM Fashion Night Out, Thursday, September 8, 2011.

Now I just don’t have the time to go to all the store events.  There are just too many. But, I always make an effort to go to a Neiman Marcus Event.  They really know how to do it right.  (see pics from 2010 Fashion Rules)  Also, I can’t resist their Beauty Events.  (September 8 – 18, 2011).  I carried my turquoise bag, that I got from an event two years ago, all summer.  I always get tons of compliments on it.

So, whatever you’re doing Thursday night, September 8, drop it and join me at Neiman Marcus in Natick MA from 6 to 9PM.

Friday Favorites: Dogeared Jewelry

I just fell in love with this line when I saw it in 1991 and I still love it today.  Dogeared jewelry is not only beautiful to look at but an inspiration to the wearer.  The simplicity of design combined with the inspirational message remind the wearer to stay positive, peaceful and hopeful.

They have a number of charms to choose from including Live Love Laugh, Pearls of Wisdom and Hear Me Roar.

So whatever you’re inner voice may be saying.  Wear it proudly with Dogeared jewelry.

Friday Favorites: Nordstrom Eco Tote and Give Away!

Yes, I know it’s actually Saturday, but my house has been filled with workmen and it’s difficult to get anything done.  So here it is, a nice quiet Saturday morning as we prepare for Irene to strike…

If you had a chance to read my last post “Nordstrom, You’re One Class Act,” you know that I recently had the honor of serving on the company’s scholarship selection committee.  One of the thank you gifts I received was this adorable Eco Tote made completely from recycled water bottles.  I have gotten so much use out of it.  It comes packaged in a cute pouch that can then be used to hold all your little goodies then snapped on the inside of the tote for easy access.  I love it so much I’m going to be giving them out as Christmas gifts.

The lucky winner of this give away is Karen.  Congratulations!

Nordstrom, You’re One Class Act.

This summer I had the incredible honor of participating on the Nordstrom Scholarship Committee.  Every year Nordstrom (my favorite store by the way) gives out college scholarships to well deserving students all over the country.  I had the incredible privilege of working with the New England region to select 4 amazing candidates who will each be awarded $10,000. in scholarship money.

When I was asked to participate I never expected to become so emotionally involved in the process.  Meeting the candidates, reading their applications, hearing their stories made me wish I could personally give each of them the money.  These are some of the most amazing young people I have ever met and it has restored my confidence in the future generation.  I will carry this experience with me always.

The award winners will be notified in the fall and hopefully I will be able to make it to each of the presentations.  I will be sure to keep you posted.

Are You On the Worst-Dressed List?

Hi Everyone. So sorry I haven’t been around for a while.  Lots going on, but  I won’t bore you with the details.  Needless to say, I didn’t feel very inspired to post.  As a matter of fact, there were a few days I didn’t even feel inspired enough to take a shower… but I digress…  GQ was just the thing to get me out of my “blog fog.” The recently put together a list of the 40 Worst Dressed Cities in America.

Check it out to see if your city made the list.

Friday Favorites: We’re Obsessed

One of my favorite online reads is Instyle.com. I particularly like the section titled “We’re Obsessed.” It features luxury items you may like if money were no object. Well, money may not be an object for some, but for this girl, it is. When I spend my husband’s hard earned money, I want to make sure I’m getting a value. For me that means classic pieces that I can wear season after season.

Now let’s just suppose money were not an object. Imagine you could buy whatever you wanted regardless of the cost. I ask you, would you buy any of these?

Philippe Audibert Mitaine Glove. $1,170.0

Wilfredo Rosado Gold Lips Ring. $15,000.00

Burberry Prorsum. $5995.00

Chanel Feather Bib Necklace $5900.00
